Combustible in the presence of open flames and high heat; decomposes upon heating to release toxic bromide fumes.
Uses:Used as an organic synthesis intermediate for the preparation of other brominated compounds and fine chemicals. Also employed as a solvent, in fire extinguishing formulations, and as an intermediate in pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis, serving as a brominating agent in chemical experiments.
