Physical Properties:Pale yellow crystalline powder, odorless, hygroscopic. Freely soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, practically insoluble in chloroform. Unstable under acidic or alkaline conditions, easily decomposed by light. Melting point approximately 250°C (decomposition).
Uses:Folinic acid is an active metabolite of folic acid, used for the treatment of megaloblastic anemia and leukopenia. As an antidote to antifolate drugs, it is combined with methotrexate to reduce its toxicity, and also serves as a folate supplement during chemotherapy.
