Freely soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether and other organic solvents. Decomposes slowly upon contact with water or moist air, releasing hydrogen chloride gas.
Uses:Used as an organic synthesis intermediate, mainly for the preparation of ethanesulfonate esters, ethanesulfonamides and other compounds. Also employed as a sulfonylating reagent in pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis.
