Aqueous solution is acidic. Melting point approx. 135-152°C (dehydration/decomposition), relative density approx. 1.542. Effloresces in dry air by losing water of crystallization.
Uses:Mainly used as an acidulant, antioxidant and pH regulator in foods and beverages; in the chemical industry as a complexing agent, masking agent and a reagent for buffer solutions; in pharmaceuticals as an in vitro anticoagulant; in daily chemical products as a keratolytic promoter and detergent builder.
