Physical Properties:Pure product is white crystals; technical grade is pale yellow to yellowish-brown oily liquid with a camphor-like odor. Melting point 51-52°C, boiling point 117°C at 13.3 Pa, relative density 1.281 at 20°C, molecular weight 229.26. Readily soluble in most organic solvents such as benzene, toluene, ethanol and chloroform; water solubility approximately 25 g/L at 20°C. Stable in neutral and weakly acidic media, readily decomposed by alkali.
Uses:Dimethoate is a broad-spectrum systemic organophosphorus insecticide with contact and stomach action, which can be absorbed and translocated throughout plants. It provides excellent control of piercing-sucking pests such as aphids, leafhoppers, thrips and planthoppers, as well as mites, and is widely used on rice, cotton, fruit trees, vegetables, tea and other crops against various pests.
