Physical Properties:A silver-white hard transition metal with a face-centered cubic crystal structure. Density 12.41 g/cm³, melting point approx. 1964°C, boiling point approx. 3695°C. Chemically stable, insoluble in most acids, soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, aqua regia (a mixture of concentrated hydrochloric and nitric acid), and molten alkali metal salts. Exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance.
Uses:Primarily used as a catalytic active component in automotive three-way catalytic converters, as well as in hydrogenation and hydroformylation catalysts in the chemical industry. In electroplating, it is used to produce corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant rhodium coatings. It is also used to manufacture platinum-rhodium alloy thermocouples and high-temperature laboratory crucibles.
