Uses:Primarily used as an organic synthesis intermediate to introduce isopropyl groups via malonic ester synthesis, for the preparation of α-substituted malonic acid derivatives and isopropyl-substituted carboxylic acids. Widely employed as an alkylating building block in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and fine chemicals. Also used for synthesizing isopropyl-containing heterocyclic compounds such as barbiturates.
