Soluble in water and glycerol, insoluble in ethanol; aqueous solution is neutral. Relative density 2.68, melting point 884°C, transforms to hexagonal crystal at 241°C.
Uses:Mainly used in the production of sodium silicate, glass, porcelain enamel, pulp, detergents, desiccants and dye diluents. It is a common drying agent for post-treatment in organic synthesis. Also used as analytical reagent, pharmaceutical raw material and cement early-strength agent.
