Physical Properties:White waxy solid or flakes with a faint fatty odor. Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and other organic solvents. Average relative density about 0.81 (20°C), melting point approx. 48–52°C, boiling point approx. 300°C (at atmospheric pressure), flash point approx. 165°C (open cup).
Uses:Mainly used as an emulsifier, thickener and emollient in cosmetics, commonly used in creams, lotions, conditioners and other personal care products; also used as an intermediate for the production of surfactants such as fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ethers and fatty alcohol sulfates, as well as an auxiliary agent in textile and leather processing.
