Physical Properties:Light yellow to amber transparent solid, available as flakes, granules or lumps, pure and odorless. Molecular weight approx. 945 (as glyceryl triabietate), softening point 80–90°C, density approx. 1.08 g/cm³, high flash point (≥220°C), low acid value. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, toluene, ethyl acetate, turpentine and vegetable oils. Excellent weatherability, oxidation resistance and thermal stability.
Uses:Serves as the main tackifying resin in hot-melt adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives and label adhesives, effectively improving initial tack, holding power and cohesive strength. In the food industry, it is used as a gum base for chewing gum and bubble gum as well as an emulsion stabilizer for beverages. It is also widely applied in water-based inks, paints and varnishes to enhance film gloss and adhesion, and is used in leather polishing, rubber reinforcement and paper sizing in fine chemical fields.
