Aqueous solution is alkaline; decomposes at about 250 °C.
Uses:Kanamycin base is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, showing antibacterial activity against many Gram-negative bacteria and some Gram-positive bacteria. It is mainly used in biomedical research, microbial screening and veterinary medicine, and also serves as an intermediate for the preparation of kanamycin sulfate and other derivatives.
