Soluble in ether, benzene, hexane and other organic solvents. Thermally unstable and should be stored sealed under inert atmosphere at low temperature.
Uses:Used as an alkylating agent in organic synthesis to introduce ethyl groups; also employed in the preparation of other organolithium compounds and organometallic reagents, widely applied in fine chemicals and pharmaceutical synthesis.
