Physical Properties:White crystalline solid, melting point approximately 186°C. Slightly soluble in water (about 15 mg/L at 25°C), readily soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, dichloromethane, and ethyl acetate. Stable under acidic conditions, hydrolyzes under alkaline conditions.
Uses:A sulfonylurea herbicide primarily used in wheat fields to control broadleaf weeds such as Descurainia sophia, Capsella bursa-pastoris, and Vaccaria segetalis. It is absorbed through both foliage and roots, inhibiting acetolactate synthase and thereby blocking the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids.
