Physical Properties:Colorless to light yellow liquid with an amine odor. Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ethyl ether, acetone and other organic solvents. Relative density (20°C) approx. 0.79-0.82, boiling point approx. 240-280°C, flash point (closed cup) approx. 100-140°C. Weakly basic, reacts with acids to form quaternary ammonium salts.
Uses:Widely used as an intermediate for bactericidal and disinfecting agents, such as quaternary ammonium disinfectants and cationic surfactants; used as raw material for softeners and antistatic agents in textile industry; used as corrosion inhibitor and demulsifier in oilfield chemicals; also used in mild detergent formulations in personal care products.
