Physical Properties:White crystalline powder, odorless, slightly bitter taste. Melting point approximately 300°C (decomposes). Slightly soluble in water and ethanol, sparingly soluble in chloroform, almost insoluble in ether. Stable in air, discolors upon exposure to light.
Uses:It is an organic synthesis intermediate mainly used for the preparation of pharmaceuticals such as diphenhydramine theoclate (dimenhydrinate). It is also used as a drug impurity reference standard for quality control and related substance analysis of pamabrom and other drugs.
