Sparingly soluble in water; aqueous solution is acidic. It decomposes in water or on exposure to moisture, releasing hypochlorous acid with a high available chlorine content.
Uses:Mainly used for disinfection and sterilization of drinking water, swimming pool water and industrial circulating water; used as bleaching and mildew-proof agent for cotton, linen, chemical fibers and synthetic fibers to improve textile hygiene; also used as wool shrink-proof agent, rubber chlorinating agent and disinfectant in daily chemical products.
