Physical Properties:White or light yellow lyophilized powder, soluble in water, insoluble in ethanol. Optimum pH is about 6.8, stable in the range of pH 5–9. Precipitated by ammonium sulfate, sensitive to heat.
Uses:Mainly used in biochemical research to catalyze the hydrolysis of β-glucuronides, releasing glucuronic acid. Also used in clinical assays for determining drug or toxin metabolites in the body, and as an enzyme substrate in histochemical staining.
