Physical Properties:This product is a copper-containing oxidoreductase that catalyzes the oxidation of L-tyrosine to dopaquinone, which further polymerizes to form melanin. It appears as a light brown to brown lyophilized powder or solution, soluble in aqueous buffers (pH 6.0-7.0), insoluble in organic solvents. Optimum pH is approximately 6.5-7.5 and optimum temperature is about 40°C. It is sensitive to copper chelators and should be stored at 2-8°C in the dark.
Uses:Used in biochemistry and molecular biology research, mainly for studies on melanin synthesis mechanisms, enzyme kinetics, and inhibitor screening.
