It is insoluble in water and common organic solvents, and exhibits good chemical stability against acids, alkalis, oxidizing agents and reducing agents. In aqueous media, it releases cations that can reversibly exchange with other cations in the surrounding solution. Its wet bulk density is approximately 0.72-0.82 g/mL, and moisture content is about 45-55%.
Uses:Used for water softening, pure water production, and separation/recovery of heavy metal ions. In organic synthesis, it serves as an acidic catalyst for esterification, hydrolysis and hydration reactions. It is widely employed in pharmaceutical, food processing and chemical industries for desalination and purification.
