Physical Properties:Polyisobutylene is a colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid or elastomer with adjustable molecular weight, high chemical stability and strong weather resistance. Density is about 0.91-0.93 g/cm³, refractive index is stable (about 1.50). It is insoluble in water and ethanol, soluble in petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform and other organic solvents, resistant to acids and alkalis.
Uses:Used as lubricating oil and fuel additives, adhesives and sealants, and for rubber and blending modification. It is widely used in medicine, cosmetics and food packaging, as well as emerging and special fields.
