Physical Properties:Light yellow to amber transparent solid or viscous liquid, thermoplastic, glassy and brittle at room temperature. Softening point typically 80-135°C, density approx. 0.96-1.00 g/cm³ (25°C), low acid value and high iodine value. Freely soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, ketones, ethers and other organic solvents; insoluble in water, methanol and ethanol. Exhibits good adhesion, thermal stability and electrical insulation properties.
Uses:Mainly used as tackifier in hot-melt adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives and rubber compounding to enhance bond strength and initial tack. Also widely used in solvent-based and waterborne coatings, traffic marking paints and printing inks to improve film gloss and adhesion. Additionally applied in chewing gum base, electrical insulating materials and paper strengthening agents.
