Physical Properties:White loose powder with a slight characteristic odor, bulk density approx. 0.2 g/cm³, glass transition temperature 100-110°C, soluble in water, ethanol, and glycerol. It swells in water to form a low-viscosity acidic dispersion, which turns into a transparent viscous gel upon neutralization with alkali, exhibiting excellent thickening, suspending, and emulsion-stabilizing properties.
Uses:Carbomer is widely used as a thickener, suspending agent, and emulsion stabilizer in cosmetic gels, toothpaste, and creams. It is also employed in the pharmaceutical industry as a gel matrix and excipient for sustained-release formulations.
