Physical Properties:Sephadex G-200 is a cross-linked dextran gel supplied as white beads. It is insoluble in water, salt solutions and organic solvents, but swells in water and salt solutions to form a gel. It should be stored sealed at room temperature in a cool, dry place protected from light; heat, moisture and light can impair its separation activity.
Uses:Mainly used as a gel filtration chromatography medium for separation and purification of biomacromolecules such as proteins, peptides and nucleic acids, with fractionation based on molecular size. Widely applied in biochemistry, molecular biology and pharmaceutical industries for desalting, buffer exchange and molecular weight determination.
