Physical Properties:White to off-white powder or granules, odorless and tasteless. Insoluble in water, dilute acid solutions and hexane; soluble in acetone, ethanol/acetone mixtures and buffer solutions with pH≥5.5. Good film-forming properties with tough films; softening point about 150°C.
Uses:Mainly used as an enteric coating material in pharmaceutical preparations, suitable for enteric coating of tablets and capsules. It is also used to prepare sustained-release pellets, microcapsules and as a carrier for solid dispersions to improve drug release performance.
