Uses:Used as a phenylthiolation reagent, it can react with unsaturated compounds to prepare optically active compounds. For example, it adds to alkenes to give β-chloroalkyl phenyl sulfides, to alkynes to give alkenyl phenyl sulfides, and reacts with diazo ketones to give α-phenylthio-α,β-unsaturated ketones.
