Physical Properties:ABS is a terpolymer of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene, combining the performance of the three components: acrylonitrile provides hardness, heat resistance and chemical corrosion resistance; butadiene provides toughness and low-temperature impact resistance; styrene provides rigidity and processing fluidity. It features excellent comprehensive mechanical properties, dimensional stability, wear resistance, electrical properties and dyeability, with low water absorption. It is resistant to water, inorganic salts, alkalis and some acids, insoluble in most alcohols and hydrocarbon solvents, but soluble in aldehydes, ketones, esters and certain chlorinated hydrocarbons. It has a low heat distortion temperature, is flammable and has poor weatherability. Melting temperature: 217-237°C; thermal decomposition temperature above 250°C.
Uses:Widely used in machinery, automotive, electronic and electrical appliances, instruments, textile, construction and other industrial fields. Mainly used for housings of household appliances and office equipment, mechanical parts, gears, bearings, pipes and fittings, automotive interior and exterior parts (e.g. instrument panels, steering wheels, grilles), enclosures for telecommunication and electronic devices, children's toys and daily necessities.
