Physical Properties:Polycarbonate rod is a transparent amorphous thermoplastic engineering plastic with a density of about 1.20 g/cm³, refractive index of 1.585, and light transmittance up to 88%-90%. It exhibits excellent impact resistance, creep resistance, dimensional stability, and electrical insulation, with a service temperature range of -40°C to 120°C. It dissolves in chlorinated hydrocarbons such as dichloromethane and chloroform, resists dilute acids, oxidants, and salt solutions, but is not resistant to strong bases or ketone solvents.
Uses:Polycarbonate rods are widely used in explosion-proof safety equipment such as helmets, face shields, protective shields, and taxi blast shields; also used as insulating panels for electrical appliances and instruments, as decorative materials for skylights, billboards, and light boxes, and as soundproofing materials for elevated road noise barriers and telephone booths.
