Physical Properties:A milky-white semi-transparent to opaque crystalline thermoplastic polyester, with a density of about 1.31 g/cm³ (unreinforced). It exhibits high heat resistance, toughness, fatigue resistance, self-lubrication, and a low coefficient of friction. Water absorption is only 0.1%, and it retains electrical insulation properties in humid environments, although dielectric loss is high. It is resistant to hot water, alkalis, acids, and oils, but is easily attacked by halogenated hydrocarbons and has poor hydrolysis resistance. Melting point is 225–235°C, crystallinity is about 40%, and molded parts show anisotropy.
Uses:Used in the automotive industry for distributors, body parts, ignition coil bobbins, insulating covers, exhaust system components, and motorcycle igniters; in the electrical/electronic industry for television deflection yokes, CRT and potentiometer brackets, audio transformer bobbins, adapter bobbins, switch connectors, and motor end caps and bushings for fans, refrigerators, and washing machines. Also widely used in industrial machinery and polymer alloys/blends.
