Physical Properties:Polycarbonate is an odorless, tasteless, transparent or translucent thermoplastic engineering plastic with high strength, high elastic modulus, and high impact strength, a wide service temperature range, good dimensional stability, and excellent fatigue resistance, weatherability, and electrical properties. Density is approx. 1.20 g/cm³, dielectric constant is 3.0-3.2, arc resistance is 120 s; it is insoluble in water and aliphatic hydrocarbons, and soluble in organic solvents such as dichloromethane and chloroform. It has poor water stability and tends to decompose when exposed to water at high temperatures; caution is needed in high-temperature and high-humidity environments.
Uses:Polycarbonate is mainly used in glass glazing, the automotive industry, and the electrical/electronic industry, and is also widely used for industrial machine parts, optical discs, packaging, office equipment, medical and healthcare devices, films, and leisure and protective equipment. It is used to manufacture building glass, protective windows, aircraft canopies, lighting equipment, automotive headlamp lenses and instrument panels, junction boxes, sockets, relay housings, gears and other components, as well as optical discs, recyclable bottles and containers, medical instruments, helmets and protective gear. PC films are widely used in printed graphics, pharmaceuticals, and membrane commutators.
