Physical Properties:Polyoxymethylene is a linear polymer with no side chains, high density and high crystallinity. The DE-20171 NC010 grade is supplied as white POM pellets and features high hardness, high rigidity, high wear resistance and excellent frictional performance. It has a density of about 1.41–1.42 g/cm³, a melting point of about 165–175°C, low water absorption and good dimensional stability. It is resistant to organic solvents and most chemicals, and has excellent electrical insulation, repeated impact resistance and self-lubricating properties. The processing temperature range is narrow; decomposition may occur above 220°C, releasing irritating formaldehyde gas.
Uses:It is suitable for producing wear-resistant and transmission parts such as gears, bearings, automotive components, machine tool and instrument parts, fasteners, springs, pipes and conveyor belt fittings. It is also used for electric kettles, pump housings, drainers, faucets and similar products, and can replace most non-ferrous metals.
