Physical Properties:White, highly crystalline, hard and brittle polymer with a relative density of about 1.3 and very low water absorption (about 0.03%). It has excellent flame retardancy with an oxygen index above 44%. Mechanical properties are moderate with low impact strength, but glass fiber reinforcement significantly improves impact and tensile strength. It exhibits high rigidity, with a flexural modulus of about 3.8 GPa for pure PPS and up to 12.6 GPa after inorganic filling. Good creep resistance, high hardness, excellent wear resistance (abrasion loss only about 0.04 g per 1000 revolutions), and certain self-lubricating properties. Thermal performance is outstanding, with short-term heat resistance up to 260°C and long-term service temperature of 200–240°C.
