Physical Properties:White powder or granular product, non-toxic and odorless; density 0.940–0.976 g/cm³; melting point/softening point 125–135°C, service temperature up to 100°C; melting temperature 120–160°C, with a recommended melting range of 200–250°C for materials with larger molecular weight. It exhibits good heat resistance, cold resistance, chemical stability, rigidity, and toughness, as well as excellent mechanical strength, dielectric performance, and environmental stress cracking resistance. Its hardness, tensile strength, and creep resistance are superior to those of low-density polyethylene; abrasion resistance, electrical insulation, toughness, and cold resistance are good, though electrical insulation is slightly inferior to that of low-density polyethylene. It is insoluble in any organic solvent at room temperature and resistant to acids, alkalis, and various salts. Films have low permeability to water vapor and air and low water absorption. Its aging resistance is poor, and thermal oxidation may degrade performance; therefore, antioxidants and UV absorbers are required. HDPE films exhibit a relatively low heat distortion temperature under load, which should be noted during use.
Uses:Suitable for injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, and other processing methods, it can be used to manufacture containers, pipes, sheets, films, and daily necessities. Its excellent rigidity, toughness, and chemical corrosion resistance make it widely used in chemical storage tanks, building pipes, packaging materials, and wire and cable sheathing.
