Physical Properties:Thermoplastic elastomers combine the high elasticity of rubber with the thermoplastic processing performance of plastics, featuring high self-reinforcement, simplified formulation, and easy quality control. They offer a wide hardness range from ultra-soft to Shore A 10, along with good transparency, gloss, hand feel, and low-temperature flexibility. Their heat resistance is inferior to that of rubber, with physical properties decreasing noticeably as temperature rises. Compared with vulcanized rubber, they exhibit slightly poorer compression set, elastic recovery, and durability, but possess good UV resistance, weatherability, electrical insulation, and vibration damping performance, and are easy to color and process.
Uses:Widely used in toys, sporting goods, stationery, sealing rings, handles and grips, home appliance housings, automotive parts, gears, adult products, and suction cups. Also applied as reinforcing and toughening modifiers for plastics, and as a substitute for PVC in oil-coated toys and daily necessities. As a derivative of TPE, tetraphenylene is a classic AIE (Aggregation-Induced Emission) molecule, showing important application prospects in organic optoelectronic materials.
