Uses:Irinotecan is a topoisomerase I inhibitor antineoplastic agent primarily used as first-line treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer, and is also indicated for small cell lung cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and malignant lymphoma. As a prodrug, it is metabolized by carboxylesterase in vivo to the active metabolite SN-38, which exerts cytotoxic effects.
