It hydrolyzes upon exposure to water or moist air, releasing hydrogen chloride gas. Boiling point approximately 295°C, flash point approximately 140°C, relative density approximately 1.09, refractive index approximately 1.573.
Uses:Used as an important intermediate in organosilicon synthesis for preparing silane coupling agents, silicone resins, and organosilicon polymers containing diphenylmethylsilyl functional groups. It is also used as an end-capping agent for silanol groups and as a silicon-based protecting reagent in organic synthesis.
