Physical Properties:White crystalline solid, freely soluble in water. The 1% aqueous solution has a pH of 6.0–7.5 (weakly acidic). Industrial grade may appear as pale yellow to red-yellow aqueous solution. Decomposes upon heating.
Uses:Used as a flotation activator in mineral processing, especially for high-oxidation, high-slime, difficult-to-float chrysocolla and malachite copper ores as well as mixed oxide-sulfide copper ores, significantly improving copper recovery and reducing xanthate consumption. In industrial water treatment, it serves as a corrosion and scale inhibitor by chelating metal ions to prevent pipe scaling and corrosion. It is also used as an organophosphorus flame-retardant additive in building materials, and laboratory high-purity grade is applied in pH buffer systems for biomedical research and cell culture.
