Insoluble in water and dilute acids, but soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid and aqua regia. As a transition metal dichalcogenide semiconductor, it has a band gap of approximately 1.9 eV and exhibits anisotropic electrical properties.
Uses:Used as a two-dimensional layered semiconductor material in thin-film transistors, photodetectors and other electronic devices. Serves as an excellent solid lubricant additive with low friction and anti-wear properties. Applied as a photocatalytic material for hydrogen production, and as an electrode material in lithium batteries and supercapacitors.
