Physical Properties:White crystalline powder with a pungent chlorine odor. Melting point 225–230°C (decomposes). Density about 1.5 g/cm³. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in alkali solutions and acetone. Slowly releases hypochlorous acid in water, weakly acidic, strong oxidizing and bactericidal.
Uses:Mainly used as a bactericidal disinfectant for swimming pools and landscape water bodies, quickly killing bacteria and algae, removing odors and purifying water quality. Also widely used in industrial circulating cooling water, sewage treatment, aquaculture water, food processing equipment, and public environmental disinfection.
