Readily soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether, benzene, toluene and other organic solvents; insoluble in water. Chemically stable, with strong coordination ability and polarity, typical of trialkylphosphine oxides.
Uses:Mainly used as a neutral phosphorus extractant in liquid-liquid extraction, exhibiting excellent extraction and separation performance for uranium, thorium, rare earth and transition metal ions. Also employed as a phase transfer catalyst, surfactant and organic synthesis intermediate. Used for separation and preconcentration of metal ions in analytical chemistry.
