Uses:Used as an organic synthesis intermediate, mainly for the preparation of chloromethyl ester compounds; in the pharmaceutical industry for the synthesis of prodrugs and active pharmaceutical intermediates; in the agrochemical field for the synthesis of fungicides and herbicides; also used as an alkylating and sulfonylating reagent to introduce chloromethoxy-sulfonyl functional groups.
