Physical Properties:Amber to brown viscous liquid with a slight sulfur odor. Insoluble in water, soluble in aromatic hydrocarbon solvents. Releases active sulfur upon heating to exert vulcanization effect. Density approx. 1.05-1.15 g/cm³ at 25°C; relatively high flash point.
Uses:Used as a vulcanizing agent for natural rubber, SBR, butyl rubber and chlorobutyl rubber, especially effective for chlorobutyl rubber. Cured compounds exhibit no blooming, excellent heat resistance and heat-oxygen aging resistance, and no carcinogenic nitrosamine generation during vulcanization. Also serves as a stabilizer, dispersant and plasticizer, widely used in tire inner liner, sidewall, tread compounds and products such as conveyor belts, high-pressure hoses and sealing gaskets. In tire applications it raises vulcanization temperature to 185-190°C and improves vulcanization efficiency by 30-40%.
