Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and other organic solvents. It may discolor upon exposure to light or heat, and should be stored sealed and protected from light.
Uses:Used as an organic synthesis intermediate for the preparation of thiourea derivatives, heterocyclic compounds, and pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediates. In the food industry, it serves as a flavor component. It also exhibits antibacterial and antifungal biological activities, and is commonly used in biochemical research for antibacterial screening and synthesis of plant protectants.
