Insoluble in water; soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone and other organic solvents. Readily decomposes upon contact with acids; avoid contact with strong acids and oxidizing agents.
Uses:Mainly used as an organic synthesis intermediate for the preparation of xanthates and thiocarbonate compounds. It is also used as a collector in mineral flotation and as a synthetic raw material for rubber additives and pesticide intermediates.
