Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone and other organic solvents. Flammable in presence of open flame or high heat; thermal decomposition releases toxic hydrogen bromide gas.
Uses:Used as an organic synthesis intermediate, primarily for introducing the cyclopropylmethyl group. It is applied in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and fine chemicals, such as certain pyrethroid insecticides and drug molecules.
