Uses:Used as a chromogenic substrate for endotoxin detection with the Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) assay. It is specifically cleaved during the reaction between bacterial endotoxin and LAL, releasing p-nitroaniline (pNA). The endotoxin content is quantified by measuring the absorbance change at 405 nm. Also used in studies and assays of proteolytic enzyme activity.
