Insoluble in water, readily soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone, chloroform and other organic solvents.
Uses:Mainly used as an intermediate in organic synthesis for the preparation of surfactants, lubricants and fuel additives. It is also used for surface modification of gold nanoparticles and other materials, and as a chain transfer agent in free radical polymerization.
