It is extremely reactive chemically.
Uses:As a strong acylating and chlorinating agent, it is core to organic synthesis, used to prepare chloroacetamide, α-chloroketones and other compounds; it is a key intermediate in the pesticide industry; and it is used as an intermediate in the production of acid dyes and disperse dyes in the dyestuff industry.
