Physical Properties:A transparent thermoplastic engineering plastic with a density of approximately 1.20 g/cm³, offering excellent impact strength, rigidity, and dimensional stability. Glass transition temperature is about 150°C, low water absorption (approximately 0.15%), and good resistance to temperature, weathering, and UV radiation.
Uses:Used in automotive applications (headlamp housings, sunroofs, engine covers), construction (thermal insulation materials, roofing panels, cladding), electrical/electronic components (insulators, enclosures, connectors), and safety equipment (helmets, bullet-resistant sheets, protective shields). Also applied in signage and lighting, telecommunications antenna housings and cable insulation, and aerospace window panels and structural components.
Technical Specifications:
Drying is required before processing: drying temperature 120°C for at least 4 hours; drying time should not exceed 10 hours.
Injection molding temperature: 270–320°C; some modified or low-molecular-weight grades: 230–270°C.
Prolonged residence at high temperature causes degradation and discoloration; purge the barrel with PS, not with LDPE, POM, ABS, or PA.
