Physical Properties:Polyphenylene sulfide is a semi-crystalline high-performance engineering thermoplastic with a light brown to dark gray appearance and a density of approximately 1.35 g/cm³. It exhibits extremely low moisture absorption and a high allowable working temperature in air (continuous service at 220°C, with short-term exposure up to 260°C). The material offers outstanding chemical resistance—insoluble in all common solvents below 200°C and inert to steam, strong alkalis, fuels, and acids. It features a very low coefficient of linear thermal expansion, excellent dimensional stability, high mechanical strength, stiffness, and creep resistance. Additionally, it is inherently flame-retardant, provides excellent electrical insulation and dielectric properties, and exhibits good resistance to high-energy radiation (gamma and X-rays) as well as UV radiation.
