Physical Properties:Polycarbonate (PC) is an amorphous engineering plastic with a molecular weight typically ranging from 30,000 to 100,000, a density of about 1.2 g/cm³, a light transmittance of 88%–90%, and a water absorption rate of approximately 0.15%–0.18%. It exhibits outstanding impact strength, thermal stability, gloss, flame retardancy, and dimensional stability, with a mold shrinkage of 0.1%–0.2%. It can be used long-term in the range of -60°C to 120°C and has a heat deflection temperature of 130–140°C. It is soluble in chlorinated solvents such as dichloromethane and chloroform, resistant to dilute acids, dilute alkalis, and aliphatic hydrocarbons, but not resistant to strong alkalis, ketones, and aromatic hydrocarbons, and is prone to hydrolysis under high temperature and high humidity conditions.

Uses:It is mainly used in optical lighting for lamp covers, protective glass, and optical instrument components; in electronics and electrical appliances for insulating connectors, coil frames, optical discs, and housings; and in mechanical equipment for gears, bearings, cams, and other parts. It is also used in medical applications for medicine containers, surgical instruments, and artificial organs, as well as in construction for hollow sheets and greenhouse glazing.
